When you look at the cast of THE WATCH, Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill and very funny newcomer Richard Ayoade, you think, "this is going to be hilarious". But somewhere between concept and screen, this one got very far off track. It has it's moments, most of them courtesy of Vaughn's usual rapid fire ramblings, Hill's anger management challenged wannabe-cop and Ayoade's new to America antics. But the writing is really all over the place, Stiller is pretty one-note and dull as the straight man and much of the cast is just left to do nothing.
What a waste of money, special effects and comic talent.
At the end of the day, this is just pretty dull to watch and comes in with a C-. However, if you like endless explosions blowing up of barns, cows and a Costco, this is your Citizen Kane.....
