The Transporter Refueled

At 96 minutes long, THE TRANSPORTER REFUELED is officially the longest Audi commercial that I have ever seen. At least that's what I think this average re-boot of the Transporter series was selling.

Jason Statham has moved on to bigger and better projects, so the producers bring in Ed Skrein, best known for his role as Daario Naharis in "Game of Thrones".

Skrein has half the body mass and screen presence of Statham and the film suffers for it, as there's nothing to really invest in.

One the best things about the Transporter films was always the complete mystery around the driver, Frank Martin, who will drive you anywhere, anytime with no questions asked, for the right price.

This time, you meet Martin's dad (Ray Stevenson in a good performance) and they are soon battling mob bad guys in the same vein as "Taken".

The bad thing is, you could interchange entire parts of the plot from any of the "Taken" sequels and this third Transporter film and I'm not sure anyone would notice.

It's all about the stunt teams, who deliver the goods in hand-to-hand battles and the extended car and motorcycle chases that are beautifully shot and fun to watch, but provide the film its only spark.

The transporter may be refueled, but nobody sprung for premium gasoline. This thing sputters to a C-.
