Perhaps most notable as the first of Charlton Heston's "hero on a plane" roles of the seventies, 1972's SKYJACKED never quite takes off.
Heston stars as pilot Hank O'Hara, piloting a flight with a bomber on board.
After finding a threatening note in lipstick on a bathroom mirror aboard the flight, the cast of suspects is numerous. Susan Dey is a hippie (hot off the Partridge family at the time), Rosey Grier, Walter Pidgeon and James Brolin are all passengers aboard that may be the maniac.
Sadly, it's not too hard to figure out who the real crazy is, who demands to be taken to Russia to become a hero.
Director John Guillermin has made MUCH better films, including "The Towering Inferno" and "The Blue Max" and appears to be slumming here.
The music score by Perry Botkin is horrible and the screenplay isn't much better. If you are past the sixth grade, the story isn't going to provide many surprises.
While much of the story takes place in the air, this sucker never gets off the ground. A dull and dopey D.
