This interesting documentary from the 2012 Tribeca Film festival, SIDE BY SIDE, is an interesting look at the shift from celluloid film to digital film making. Some of my favorite directors, David Lynch, David Fincher & Martin Scorsese among others, express their passion for both mediums. There are hundreds of clips from films old and new showing the best of both formats and some interesting contrasts between them. As a huge fan of both classic film visuals AND the amazing new places directors like Jim Cameron (Titanic, Avatar) & Robert Rodriguez (Sin City) can take us, I found it fascinating. Hosted by its Producer, Keanu Reeves, SIDE BY SIDE is a treat for film buffs and likely very boring for non-cinema fanatics. Count me as a film buff. B
