One of the blessings of having a two year old grandson is the being able to watch animated/kids movies with him and watch him laugh hysterically at physical comedy, plenty of which is on display in SHREK THE THIRD.
This time around, Shrek (the reliably enthusiastic and hilarious Mike Myers) is picked to take the royal throne of Far, Far Away, but comes up with another plan that leads to much cartoon chaos.
By the third film in the series, the story is pretty much second rate and an after thought, but the animation and voice talent remains top notch, including Eddie Murphy as Donkey, Antonio Banderas as Puss in Boots, John Cleese and Julie Andrews as our King & Queen and Eric Idle as Merlin.
The filmmakers continue to put music to great use throughout, giving adults plenty of in jokes and songs to enjoy while the little ones laugh at all the one liners and pratfalls.
Definitely a let down from the first two films, but still with plenty of fun visuals and Myers & Murphy in fine form, #3 gets a B-.
