You would think by now the SCARY MOVIE franchise would be completely out of steam. I didn't see 3 or 4, so count me among those that had given up.
So also count me as really surprised at how much we all laughed at this rapid-fire, "Naked Gun" style comedy that spoofs plenty of current movies from all genres.
Charlie Sheen and Lindsey Lohan start the movie off with a Paranormal Activity spoof that manages to squeeze in hilarious Benny Hill antics and the most athletic romantic romp since the wooden puppets in Team America.
Writers David Zucker and Pat Proft (Naked Gun, Airplane) grab more hits than misses in their comedy targets and the bits around Rise of the Planet of the Apes are especially funny, with the guy behind the Caeser mask deserving a lot of kudos for the most hilarious facial expressions I've seen in a long time.
MAMA gets quite a send up, as does CABIN IN THE WOODS and THE EVIL DEAD in one of the film's best sequences, featuring a group of young Mormon missionaries have quite an adventure battling demonic forces in a hilarious bloodbath.
Granted, I went in with very low expectations, but I have to say that this scared up a LOT more laughs than I ever expected, all the way to a B-.
