1981's LOOKER is one of the lesser ideas from the mind of Michael Crichton (Jurassic Park, Westworld). Albert Finney continues his early 80's brief action hero phase of his career as Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Larry Roberts. He has performed surgery on four beautiful women that come to him with very specific changes they want in their faces. Soon they begin dying one by one until only Cindy Fairmont (Susan Dey of the Partridge Family) is left. Finney and Dey are pursued by guys with guns that flash light and hypnotize you.
It's rather hard to be afraid of any weapon that you can defend yourself against with sunglasses. This is a goofy, slow moving movie. Redeemed perhaps only by many scenes of a topless Laurie Partridge and laughable scenes of early computer technology that are as dated as the original Tron. Finney and James Coburn emerge somewhat unscathed, but man oh man is this S L O W...... more lurker than LOOKER. C-
