Hot Shots! Part Deux

In sheer comedic defiance of the cinematic rule of diminishing returns in sequels, HOT SHOTS PART DEUX provides a ton of stupid but hearty laughs.

Riffing primarily on RAMBO II, the sequel finds Topper Harley (a very buff and pumped up Charlie Sheen) in a monastery as the film opens, but soon recruited to recover the last rescue team, which has been held when they went to save the last rescue team.....you get the idea.

Sheen and cast manage to shoot about a million rounds of ammunition and about that many jokes, with many of them on target.

Apocalypse Now and all the Rambo films get properly skewered along with almost every action film of the late 80's and early 90's (this sequel came out in 1993).

Lloyd Bridges is now PRESIDENT Tug Benson and steals every scene he's in. Just as he did in "Airplane", he nails every punch line and every physical gag.

The writing team also brought you "Airplane" and the "Naked Gun" series, so this is far above those lame comedies by lesser writers that think any parody of a genre is a laugh riot.

Some of the best lines:

Prime Minister Soto: President Benson, where's your first lady?

President Thomas 'Tug' Benson: I don't know. I've had lots of women. Lost my flower at the age of 15. I can't keep track.

_________________________

President Thomas 'Tug' Benson: Here's the target area.

Gerou: That's Minnesota, sir.

President Thomas 'Tug' Benson: Damn it, man, that's the genius of my plan. Why go over there to fight? We can do it right here at home, and get in some good fishing while we're at it.

Gerou: Sir, the enemy is over there.

President Thomas 'Tug' Benson: Then we'll fly them over here. Their families too. We'll teach them to skate... Do I have to think of everything?

Fast & funny with a great cast, PART DEUX is magnifique and gets a B.
