Wrapping up one of the most successful film series of all time, HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS PART 2 is a terrific final chapter for our trio of heroes and their fellow students of Hogwarts.
As Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) Hermione (Emma Watson and Ron (Rupert Grint) continue their urgent search for Voldemort's Horcruxes, the war of good v evil rages around all the characters we have come to know through the decade long legacy of the films.
It's a tribute to the filmmakers that they never let their commitment to quality flag, as evidenced by the amazing cast of supporting characters and fine actors, including the ever scary Ralph Fiennes as Mr. V, Michael Gambon as Dumbledore and the amazing Alan Rickman as Snape.
There's been much discussion about the final scene and whether it provides too much "wrap up" of these characters, transporting us to see them later in life, but I liked it as a fitting end after watching these talented kids grow into adults and fine actors.
Director David Yates is back, as is Steve Kloves, who amazingly stuck with the series from day one and adapted all of the books onto the screen.
When you see how many pages he adapted into films, its an amazing project and he served it well.
Right to the end, Harry and friends keep us in suspense in the world so perfectly realized by Production Designer Stuart Craig (The Elephant Man, The Avengers) and Cinematographer Eduardo Serra (What Dreams May Come).
The film series will serve up amazing entertainment to families for decades to come. I can't wait to show it to my grandson as soon as he's old enough, which seems like it might be tomorrow!
It all ended here, in great style and excitement that gets an A-.
