We are watching the Harry Potter film series for the first time and we really enjoyed the second installment, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
Harry (Daniel Radcliffe in a role you can already seeing him growing into here) is warned not to return to Hogwarts for his second year by an annoying, loud little creature called Dobby the House Elf. The warnings are just the beginning as just about everything seems to conspire to keep Harry from returning.
Finally reunited with his friends Hermione (Emma Watson) and Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint), Harry meets new teachers, new parents and some dangerous new adventures as someone opens the Chamber of Secrets deep within Hogwarts for the first time in 50 years.
The second film is basically a lot more of the same from the original, but it's done so well by such a great cast that I had no complaints.
Jason Isaacs is very good as Lucius Malfoy and paired with his son Draco, make a duo you'll love to hate. Kenneth Branagh also joins the cast as Professor Gilderoy Lockhart, who has a serious crush on himself and provides some nice comic relief.
It's a real testament to the casting director that the child actors are all so good.
The entire sequence in the dark forest with the spiders is excellent and the finale in the chamber of secrets is very good. The film moves at a nice pace and at nearly three hours, never lags.
Excellent set design, special effects and music make this a very good second installment in the Happy Potter series. It conjures up a very solid B!
